Objectifs pédagogiques

The module aims to provide students with in depth understanding of conventional and emerging perceptions of risk, crisis management and resilience.
The module addresses the range of traditional issues within risk and crisis management but also encourages multi-disciplinary perspectives. More specifically:
  • Apprehend the processes and problems associated with identifying, measuring and managing risk, and crises
  • Build students skills to define risk perception and risk acceptability
  • Build students ability to explore risk behavior in organizational and societal contexts: issues of sustainability, environmental debates, health and safety concerns
  • Develop students attitude in dynamic capabilities needed to prevent and manage risk and resilience within organizations

Compétences visées

By the end of this course, students will be able to:
  • Describe the interdependency of risks related issues, through analysis and tools application
  • Evaluate critically the organization's impacts
  • Interpret findings and draw appropriate actions plans

Contenu

Risk Management as a Holistic Approach
  • The concept of " Cindynics ": a holistic development of a global, systemic approaches to hazards and perils
  • Risk Management: perception and acceptability
  • Risk Assessment : corporate responsibility, health and safety management, environmental management practice
  • The nature of resilience
