Master 2 in International Business and Corporate Development

Objectifs pédagogiques

This course seeks to provide students with the analytical frameworks and tools to identify risks and financing needs during corporate internationalization process and take investment and financing decisions in the international context. It will give students a basic understanding of both market finance and corporate finance and will more specifically focus on the financial risks and business risks involved in international business decisions (with a special emphasis on case studies in emerging markets).   
The first part of the course seeks to explain the impact of exchange rates on business decisions and introduce how financial markets have created their own way of offering insurance against financial loss in the form of contracts called derivatives. The difference between Forward Markets and Contracts and Futures Markets and Contracts and their related practical use will be covered with practical examples.
The second part of the course seeks to explain why, for instance, a Moroccan company should decide to purchase another company in Côte d’Ivoire and how the risk/attractiveness of such an investment is assessed.

Students will learn how to:
  • Develop the generic business skills required by managers working in an international environment
  • Understand exchange rate mechanisms and financial risks involved 
  • Understand the use of derivatives and describe the purposes of and controversies related to derivative markets
  • Understand the business risks involved in an international environment
  • Assess the viability of a decision to merge with, acquire or pursue a business relationship with a supplier in an emerging market.

  • Valuation techniques
